Ganga Singh
1880–1943 Maharaja of Bikaner; Camel Corps commander, 1915; delegate to the Peace Conference, 1919
Ganga Singh succeeded his brother as ruler of the princely state of Bikaner while still a child and was educated at Mayo College, Ajmer. His Camel Corps, the Ganga Risala, had already served in China and Somaliland when he offered his state's resources to the British in 1914. In 1915 he took the corps into the fighting against the Turkish invasion of Egypt. In 1917 he took part in the Imperial War Conference and Imperial War Cabinet in London. As a delegate of India at the Paris Peace Conference, he signed the Treaty of Versailles on 28 June 1919. He later served as chancellor of the Chamber of Princes and died in 1943.
