Dardanelles
The narrow strait in northwestern Turkey, about 61 kilometers long and 1.2 to 6 kilometers wide, that connects the Aegean Sea with the Sea of Marmara and, with the Bosporus, forms the Turkish Straits. Control of it was fought over in the Gallipoli campaign of the First World War.
