Lee-Enfield
The standard British and Commonwealth infantry rifle of both world wars, a bolt-action weapon adopted in 1895 that fed .303 cartridges from a ten-round box magazine. The Short Magazine Lee-Enfield (SMLE) was simplified as the Mk III* in late 1915 because the earlier model was too complicated to build in quantity.
