M1903 Springfield

The five-round bolt-action rifle officially adopted as the standard United States infantry rifle on 19 June 1903. In the First World War it shared service with the more common British-designed M1917 Enfield. Its design drew on the German Mauser Gewehr 98 and the Krag–Jørgensen, and the M1 Garand replaced it from 1936.
