Society
Suffragette
A member or supporter of the British Women's Social and Political Union, founded in 1903 by Emmeline Pankhurst, which used direct action and civil disobedience to campaign for votes for women. The WSPU suspended militancy when war began; some women over 30 won the vote in 1918, though not solely as a reward for war work.
