Stahlhelm

The German steel helmet, recognizable by its coal-scuttle shape, which replaced the leather Pickelhaube from 1916. It was distributed to troops at Verdun in February 1916, after which serious head injuries fell dramatically. The shape became a common element of propaganda on both sides.
