Sniper

A military marksman who engages targets from concealment or beyond the target's ability to detect him. In the First World War snipers appeared in the trenches as deadly sharpshooters, and the Germans issued scoped rifles to pick off men who showed their heads. Francis Pegahmagabow, a Canadian, is credited with 378 kills.
