Machine Gun Corps

A British Army corps formed in October 1915 to use machine guns more effectively on the Western Front. Its Heavy Branch was the first to use tanks in combat. About 170,500 officers and men served, 62,049 of them became casualties, and it was nicknamed the Suicide Club.
