American Expeditionary Forces
The formation of the United States Armed Forces on the Western Front, established on 26 May 1917 under Major General John J. Pershing; its general headquarters was organized on 5 July. About two million soldiers crossed the Atlantic, and the AEF fought at Saint-Mihiel and in the Meuse-Argonne offensive from 26 September to 11 November 1918.
