Airship
A powered, steerable lighter-than-air aircraft, classed as rigid, semi-rigid or non-rigid. Early airships used flammable hydrogen. Germany, France and Italy used them for scouting and bombing early in the war and found them too vulnerable over the front, so all ended direct support of armies in 1917.
