Young Turks
A broad opposition movement against the absolutist rule of Sultan Abdul Hamid II, whose leading organization was the Committee of Union and Progress (CUP). In the Young Turk Revolution of 1908, officers forced the sultan to restore the constitution, and the CUP took control of the government by 1913.
