Livens Projector

A simple mortar-like weapon, created by Captain William Livens of the Royal Engineers, that threw large drums filled with flammable or toxic chemicals. It became the standard means by which the British Army delivered gas attacks, and it stayed in its arsenal until the early years of the Second World War.
