Jasta
The Jagdstaffel, the fighter squadron of the Imperial German air service, with a nominal strength of 14 aircraft. Created from 1916 to counter Allied fighter squadrons, the model was Jasta 2 under Oswald Boelcke, and several Jastas were later grouped into larger units called Jagdgeschwader.
