Balfour Declaration

A letter of 2 November 1917 from the British Foreign Secretary, Arthur Balfour, to Lord Rothschild, stating that the government viewed with favor a national home for the Jewish people in Palestine, with the rights of existing communities to be protected. It became one of the most contested documents of the century.
