Howitzer
An artillery weapon that falls between a field gun and a mortar, able to fire at both low and high angles. Howitzers were valued for their ability to fire explosive shells into fortifications, as the heavy siege howitzers did against the Belgian forts at Liège, Namur and Antwerp in 1914.
