Brodie helmet
The British steel combat helmet, patented in 1915 by John Leopold Brodie and selected in September 1915 as the army's standard head protection. Made of Hadfield steel, which could withstand the impact of some shrapnel, the first million were distributed in the summer of 1916. A modified form became the American M1917 helmet.
